Meet the Team

Eric started Smart Legal with the goal of building his business around personal relationships, service, integrity and a quality product. After college, Eric began working as a customer service representative for a national document services company in 1992. In 1999, he co-founded and was President of a document services company, ultimately leaving to start Smart Legal in 2006. While his company remains a top priority, Eric is known to enjoy a good time off the clock. An avid fisherman and bow-hunter, he always has a great "one that got away" story to tell. Eric also enjoys golf, traveling and spending time with his wife Jodi and their two teenage boys.

Jason has been in the document service industry for over 15 years, having worked for a national company as an account executive before leaving to join Smart Legal in 2007. His favorite part about his job is the day to day interaction with his customers and the relationships he has developed over the years. When he isn't at work, you will likely find Jason on the golf course or at the range working on his game. He is a staple on the amateur circuit, competing in tournaments year round. He even has a cat named Putter! A lifelong sports enthusiast, Jason spent his younger years playing baseball through college. He also recently participated in Portland's Warrior Dash.

Born and raised in Oregon, Jon serves as the IT Manager for Smart Legal. He is responsible for project management, training, database administration and litigation support consultation for the entire lifecycle of case projects. Jon has the company's most unique workspace – he prefers to work from a treadmill desk both at home and at work. He is constantly researching the latest and greatest litigation support tools, while walking!

Ashley has been with Smart Legal since 2009, serving as a primary liaison between our clients and the company's production team. She has several years of customer service experience, as well as a bachelor's degree in Journalism and Communications from the University of Oregon. Ashley enjoys snowboarding, eating at food carts, taking road trips and watching Duck football, and she is a stats runner for the Portland Trail Blazers.
